Jay Wins Best Digital Film in Barcelona Asian Film Festival



The Cinemalaya-winning digital film “Jay” scored another victory overseas. This time, it won Best Digital Film at the Barcelona Asian Film Festival.

Young “hotshot” director Francis Xavier Pasion took home the D-Cinema Award or the Best Digital Film at the Barcelona Asian Film Festival which happened at Barcelona, Spain from April 30 to May 10, 2009.

Other Filipino digital films which competed in the said festival are Adela (Adolfo Alix, Jr.), Brutus (Tara Illenberger), Dose (Senedy Que), Kurap (Ronald Bertubin), Now Showing (Raya Martin), and Serbis (Brillante Mendoza).

The prestigious Golden Durian Award, which comes with a cash prize of 6,000 Euros, went to the South Korean film Breathless. Special mentions went to Malaysia’s Sell Out and Thailand’s Agrarian Utopia.

A new hunk is born and his name is Raymond Cabral.


Raymond is introduced in the drama-suspense film, "TUTOK", a film which dwells on media exploitation.

The film stars award winning thespians, EMILIO GARCIA, ALLEN DIZON & MS. BOOTS ANSON-ROA and featuring ANDREA DEL ROSARIO, IAN DE LEON and VICTOR ALIWALAS.

This film also dwells about sex and it is Raymund who adds this ingredient in this otherwise serious film.

He is out give Marco Morales a run for his money. Watch out for "TUTOK" as it opens on May 27!
